Gazino (*Pain with Their Friends)
This installation is made to be heard and seen from outside through the window during the second lockdown. The gallery space is covered with posters of famous singer Sultan Çoban. The windows of the gallery space are tilted from the outside. The audience can hear music playing passing by or standing. The installation re-presents an abandoned music club from the 1970s - 1990s in Turkey. The music that the audience hears from outside is seven different arabesque songs from between the 1970s - 1990s in Turkey, that are about loneliness, pain, and sorrows. The old speaker installed in front of the window is covered in famous singer Sultan Çoban‘s grandmother‘s lace. Through the window, the audience sees a projection with subtitles in English that translates the lyrics of seven presented songs.
