Second Solo Show
Ebru Gündeş is a Turkish singer from Turkey which became famous in the 1990s. This work is a re-enactment of one her concerts from beginning of 2000s. A playlist of her seven iconic songs, which are performed by the performer Sultan Çoban as lip-sync and the conductor Bendix Fesefeldt which is leading the orchestra behind her as the conductor. There are two live camera projections on the wall of what is happening on stage with subtitles of the songs that she is singing. There is an old television from an old living room from that time standing next to the stage, where the original concert is shown without sound. There is an intermission halfway through the sixth, where a speech occurs, the performer Sultan Çoban who was singing before tells stories about her childhood, Kurdish identity in relation to Turkey and the relation to Ebru Gündeş, during those stories a film scene is seen in the old television, where a Kurdish song is shown for the first time in Turkish television history, which loops until the speech is over. After the speech the scene goes back to the concert situation. The performance ends with a song by another Turkish singer Sezen Aksu as lip-sync.
